Construction on downtown Canton’s Centennial Plaza will continue amid shutdown. 

CANTON Here’s one thing the coronavirus hasn’t canceled: construction of downtown Canton’s Centennial Plaza.

“To this point, nothing has changed, which is really good,” chief city plannerDonn Angus said Monday.

Gov. Mike DeWine on Sunday announced a stay-at-home order that closes non-essential businesses and limits the reasons people are allowed to leave their houses. It goes into effect at 11:59 p.m. Monday and lasts through April 6.

Construction and building trades are among the professions allowed to keep working on site — meaning projects such as the construction of Centennial Plaza don’t have to stop.
