CANTON Stainless steel arches, symbolic of a football, are being installed this week at Centennial Plaza.
The arches — roughly 75 to 80 feet tall — now rise above the corner of Market Avenue N and Fourth Street NW on the northeast end of the plaza.
Members of Ironworkers Local 550, working with Selinsky Force and Barnhart Crane & Rigging, started installed the pillars on Wednesday. Three of the pillars, which weigh about 11,000 pounds, were in place by Thursday afternoon with a fourth to come.
